I’m Sarah Harlan, Partnerships Team Lead with the Knowledge SUCCESS Project.
With support from USAID, Knowledge SUCCESS launched Inside the FP Story in April of 2021. A podcast developed with the family planning workforce, for the family planning workforce, Inside the FP story features open and honest conversations with guests from around the world, and unpacks what works—and what does not work—in family planning programming.
For Season 1, we partnered with FP2030 to discuss the elements of family planning success. Featuring FP2030 focal points from Afghanistan, Kenya, Mozambique, and Senegal, we explored what has made their programs work, and what challenges they still face as we look towards the future. For Season 2, we collaborated with the World Health Organization’s IBP Network to highlight real-life implementation experiences from 15 countries, and discussed how programs have used family planning high-impact practices and WHO guidelines. Season 3 was produced in partnership with Breakthrough ACTION and the USAID Interagency Gender Working Group, and discussed gender integration in family planning programs. We included key definitions and discussed what gender transformative family planning programs really look like. Through these three seasons, our many guests have described their successes and real-life challenges, and have offered advice that we can use as we plan and implement robust family planning programs.
